| Polar Bear was undoubtedly the star of the show. This young male was particularly notable as it was our first close bear. In 4 Zodiacs we stalked his resting place up on a snow bank. He soon woke up and decided he was at least as interested in us as we were in him. He swiftly slid on his stomach down a snow bank and walked purposely towards us, raising his head, sniffing and tasting the air. The 30 metre gap between us in our Zodiacs and him on the edge of the ice disuaded him from entering the water - thankfully.
