These birds display most of the features of a classic Caspian Gull. Differences from typical ponticus (western cachinnans) include a less prominent tongue on P10, a small amount of black in the large white tip of P10, and a more prominent gonys. Simon describes the soft parts: some were bright mustard yellow, others sickly pinky yellow (dead flesh). Judging by the head-shape and bill size, the first bird is probably a female and the second is probably a male.
