I never saw this bird in profile, it did stick a wing out once showing a large white tip and tongue on P10. In the field, the legs were greyish straw, neither pink nor yellow. The bill is a brighter colour than I am used to. It was a large bird, and it's general demeanor points to it being a male. Postscript: The bird was still present for Richard Patient and myself on 30/12. One more picture added below. We saw the bird in flight where it nicely exhibited long parallel-sided wings, grey tongues protruding into the black wing tips and large white wing tip.
