This bird is not quite within the normal range of appearances of Herring Gull, the following features hint at Glaucous Gull involvement: - shape of the bird, - the vinous colour-tone in general and the head in particular - the "tabby" feather texture of the head - the broken eye-ring - the unmoulted scapulars - possibly the feather-tip pattern of the tertials However neither the pattern of the dorsum feathers not the primaries would yield this diagnosis.
