This bird demonstrates the broken eye-ring, pink bill base and translucent wings of a Glaucous Gull. It also shows the sub-terminal chevrons typical of a 1st year white-winged gull. As it coincides with a large influx of argentatus Herring Gulls during recent days, one assumes it is an argentatus hybrid. Postscript: All people who commented on this bird favoured it as a pale argentatus rather than a hybrid. It turned up again on 27th December and I managed some more pictures, including P00934 below. In my opinion, the translucency of these primaries has to come from Glaucous Gull.
