These were in one of 3 schools that we encountered numbering several hundred animals. We would guess that these are the long-beaked form. Tom Walmsley kindly provided the following distinction features of capensis:
- longer beak length
- muted colour pattern
- slightly longer and less chunky body
- less rounded head
- thicker and darker line between the beak and the flipper
- prefers coastal waters more
All of these seem to fit these animals.
