This Noctule Bat was found hanging 2 feet up on a Beech Tree on 4th May by Sean Newell. It is alive, breathing, moves its head and opens its eyes, but makes no sound on a bat detector. Postscript: suspecting that the bat was not in the best of health, a bat specialist, Chris Vine, chairman of the Cambridgeshire Bat Group, took it away and, after feeding on meal-worms and drinking lots of water, it made a full recovery and was released back into the wild on 9th May. Probable cause: coming out of hibernation at the same time as some very cold weather.
